Motion Designer

As a Motion Designer at DOR, you will design and systemize game-specific effect templates and decorative assets — stickers, overlays, emoticons, caption styles — so that gamers can create short, impactful videos without advanced editing skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and produce effect templates and decorative assets (stickers, overlays, emoticons, caption styles) specialized for game videos.
  • Design transitions, VFX, motion presets, and kinetic typography in After Effects.
  • Systemize reusable effects and assets into a library so a single asset can power thousands of user videos.
  • Improve template quality and usability so users can create better results more easily.
  • Analyze which templates and effects generate higher engagement based on data and feedback, and iterate improvements.
  • Collaborate with PM, designers, engineers, and operations to ensure templates connect to the actual product experience.
  • Create DOR's unique visual language for game videos by reflecting game-specific aesthetics, user preferences, and short-form trends.

Key Challenges in This Role

We're looking for someone who designs templates and effects that many users can use, rather than someone who just makes great videos.

  • Enabling gamers to create impressive videos without advanced editing skills
  • Capturing different game aesthetics and scenes effectively in short-form video language
  • Creating output that people actually want to share, not just flashy effects
  • Building structures where templates are repeatedly used, not just one-off pretty designs
  • Connecting short-form trends into the product's creation experience

Products You'll Build

Automatic Gameplay Recording (Record)

  • Enable users to automatically capture moments they don't want to miss.
  • Make event-based automatic recording more accurate and seamless.
  • The goal is to create an experience where "it just records well without any setup."

Game Video Creation (Create)

  • Turn auto-generated clips into short, watchable videos.
  • Design the product so that the output is satisfying even without manual editing.
  • Create an experience where content is completed without "tedious and difficult editing."

Game Video Editor (Edit)

  • Design effects and UX specialized for game video editing.
  • Build a product that isn't as complex as professional tools but maintains high output satisfaction.
  • Aim for a creation experience where anyone can quickly produce video content.

Sharing Experience (Share)

  • Make it easy for users to share created videos with friends and communities.
  • Design the experience so it doesn't end at video creation but leads to actual sharing and viewing.

How We Work

  • DOR builds products that customers want, not products the CEO wants.
  • We form hypotheses, build, measure, learn, and repeat in short 1-2 week iterations.
  • We build products with autonomy and accountability, based on data and user feedback.
  • Designers don't just create deliverables -- they define problems and create results.
  • We build fast, experiment fast, and adjust direction fast.
  • We obsessively focus on creating content experiences that make users want to share more easily.

Tools

  • After Effects
  • Photoshop
  • Illustrator
  • Figma
  • Lottie / Rive (interactive motion assets)

Qualifications

  • Strong motion design, VFX, and transition design skills in After Effects
  • Hands-on experience designing decorative assets — stickers, overlays, emoticons, caption styles
  • Experience systemizing reusable motion presets, effects, and templates into a library
  • Understanding of short-form video language and hands-on experience designing the visual effects that go into those videos
  • Ability to learn fast and execute fast
  • Strong understanding of gaming, video, and community spaces
  • Motivated by effects and assets used across many videos, not by making a single great video

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience setting up or scaling motion presets, effect libraries, or template systems
  • Experience designing VFX, kinetic typography, caption styles, or sticker/overlay packages
  • Experience with interactive motion assets such as Lottie or Rive
  • Experience using AI video/image generation tools in asset production workflows
  • Ability to read short-form trends (TikTok, Shorts, Reels) and translate them quickly into effects and assets
  • Experience working at a startup or gaming-related company
  • English reading or communication ability
  • A gamer or someone with deep understanding of gameplay scenes

You'd Be a Great Fit If You Are...

  • Someone more interested in creating effects and templates many users can use than a single great video
  • Someone who finds reward in seeing a single asset appear in thousands or millions of user videos
  • Someone who wants to go beyond following short-form trends to translating them into in-product effects and assets
  • Someone who iterates based on data and feedback, not just instinct
  • Someone who finds joy in making game scenes look more impressive and communicative
  • Someone who wants to create the video effects and visual language used by gamers worldwide

What to Highlight in Your Resume

  • Show us what videos, templates, and effects you've created so far.
  • Share not just the output but why you made it that way and what responses or results it generated.
  • If you have quantitative results such as views, likes, shares, saves, or subscriber growth, please include them.
  • If you've directly managed a short-form video channel or achieved measurable results, please share.
  • Rather than listing work history and credentials, we'd love to see your motivation, thought process, actions, learnings, and outcomes.
